2007 nissan maxima review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. introductionfuture historians will record that, in the summer of 2006, astronomers revoked pluto's status as a planet, and nissan reeled in the spacey styling of the maxima, bringing it down a little closer to earth-car standard. Those same historians will also render a verdict whether either decision was a good one. Right now we're might be too close to these events to tell, but we're thinking the styling changes to the 2007 nissan maxima are a good thing. And we still like to think of pluto as a planet. In fact, all of the body work has been restyled. The 2007 maxima gets new headlamps, new taillamps, and redesigned fenders, rocker panels, rear spoiler, and hood. The cabin gets a new instrument cluster and center dash for 2007, making for easier, more intuitive operation.  underneath, a continuously variable transmission, or cvt, replaces the more traditional five-speed automatic for smoother, more efficient operation. Nissan excels in this technology and we found the maxima's transmission responsive.  the nissan maxima fills a niche for aficionados who appreciate something different. The maxima is more focused on personal luxury and performance. Either way, cruising on the highway is effortless with nissan's wonderful 255-hp v6 engine. For 2007, both the maxima se and sl come standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission, which translates to smooth, efficient power. Gone is the available six-speed manual, which is fine because we didn't care for it.  both the maxima sl and se models abound with luxury features. The re-styled 2007 cabin is innovative and comfortable with supportive, luxurious seats. Surviving the 2007 revision is maxima's daring skyview roof, a narrow glass panel running lengthwise over the front and rear seats. It's the sort of feature associated with futuristic concept cars. Also interesting are the available rear bucket seats, a feature seen primarily on show cars or as an option on high-end luxury models.  together, the rear bucket seats and skyview roof make back-seat riders feel more like first-class passengers and less like coach-class cattle. The only transmission available is a continuously variable automatic (cvt). The se also comes with a sports suspension, traction control, and 18-inch wheels and tires.  the sl 30,300) upgrades with leather upholstery, woodgrain interior trim, heated seats, xenon hid headlamps, a premium eight-speaker bose stereo, and other conveniences that are optional on the se. The sl rides on a softer suspension with 17-inch wheels and tires.  the skyview roof comes standard on both se and sl. The se driver preferred package 3,750) combines the sensory package with the contents of the sl driver preferred package described above.  the elite package, available for both the se 4,700) and sl 1,950), replaces the rear bench seat with two heated bucket seats and a center console extending the full length of the interior. This option includes everything from the driver preferred packages, plus a power rear sunshade with front and rear controls, auto up/down rear windows, and an extra rear 12-volt power outlet. Options for se and sl include a dvd navigation system with seven-inch color lcd display 1,800); xm or sirius satellite radio 350); vehicle dynamic control 600), and a bluetooth hands-free phone system 300).  safety features that come standard include the advanced air bag system with dual-stage front supplemental air bags, front-seat side-impact air bags for chest protection, and roof-mounted curtain side-impact air bags for front and rear outboard occupant head protection; front-seat active head restraints; and front seat belts with adjustable upper anchors, pretensioners and load limiters. A sophisticated traction control system and a tire-pressure monitor come standard. An electronic stability program called vdc (vehicle dynamic control) is optional. walkaroundthe nissan maxima has been re-styled, and cast in a slightly more conservative mold.  the change is most apparent up front. The new grille is shaped similarly to the old one (and to the altima's). But the former, '58 buick-inspired texture of individual chromed studs has been replace by three horizontal, charcoal-colored slats; and the bold, dark-chrome center medallion has evolved into a simple central bulge. The full-width lower bumper opening that formerly stretched from foglight to foglight has been replaced with three smaller, albeit taller, openings. The hood and headlights are new, too, and also a bit more conventional in appearance than before, although the new headlights now incorporate built-in cornering lights.  the remainder of maxima's exterior is less radically changed. Big, round fender openings still pay homage to enormous alloy wheels; although the side sills are now more aggressive, and the wheel lips themselves less flattened and chiseled. Both the 17 and 18-inch wheels are now seven-spoke designs. The rear roof still slopes into the trunk lid, flanked by buttress-like sail panels. Large triangular taillight clusters, like the headlights, wrap around to the sides of the car. Nissan says the new design is more intuitive, enhancing the 'human machine interface.'  the first thing we noticed is that the new center stack looks more friendly, less hard-edged than the old one. In models without the navigation system, a dot-matrix screen displays hvac, audio and trip computer functions in one central location. With navigation, this is replaced by a seven-inch lcd screen.  simulated leather door panels replace fabric surfaces on models with leather-appointed seats, and integrated chromed accents have been added to the transmission shift lever plate and door panels. Brushed aluminum trim accents the se, while a new wood tone trim appears in the sl.  the seats in the sl look nice and feel firm yet pillowy, supportive and luxurious at the same time. They were already great last year, and now nissan has added more shoulder bolstering. The sliding center armrest has also been redesigned to improve comfort and convenience.  in front of the driver are three small gauges set in their own pod, like those on a motorcycle, with updated graphics for 2007 that are easier to read. The skyview window does not open, but nissan says it found a lot of people rarely open their sunroofs. Satellite radio can be great companion on long trips, delivering cd-quality sound nearly everywhere. Not having to change stations on a cross-country trip. 2005 nissan maxima review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Quick, stylish and luxurious. introductionthe nissan maxima is a quick and stylish premium mid-size sedan. It coddles its driver with refinement and dazzles with luxury gadgets.  now that the nissan altima has assumed the role of a roomy mid-size sedan, the maxima has moved up-market to a premium position. The maxima has become a more specialized product and makes no apologies for what it can't do: it's not ideal for families, it looks weird from some angles, and it's not significantly quicker than the altima. And that's just fine by us.  we like the maxima's unique, highly styled personality, and we like its focus on performance. The sporty maxima se rides smoothly and quietly, while the more luxurious maxima sl rides more softly. Cruising on the highway is effortless. Nissan's 265-horsepower v6 delivers responsive performance for quick passes.  maxima's interior is innovative and comfortable with seats that are supportive and luxurious. The interesting skyview roof, a glass panel running lengthwise over the front and rear seats, is the sort of feature associated with futuristic concept cars. Also interesting are the available rear bucket seats. Together, these features make back-seat riders feel like full-fledged adult passengers.  safety has been enhanced for 2005. Front-seat passengers benefit from nissan's advanced air bag system as standard equipment. It comes in two distinct flavors: the 3. 5 se is aimed at the driving enthusiast, while the 3. 5 sl is more luxuriously equipped.  se 27,200) comes with a choice of six-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic (for the same price). Se comes with a sports suspension and 18-inch wheels and tires. Traction control comes standard.  sl 29,450) comes standard with the five-speed automatic, a softer suspension and 17-inch wheels and tires. Leather upholstery, heated seats, xenon hid headlamps, a premium eight-speaker bose stereo, and conveniences that are optional on the se are all standard on the sl. Sl also features the skyview roof. Woodgrain trim replaces the se's metallic interior accents.  options include a dvd navigation system with seven-inch color lcd display 2,000); xm or sirius satellite radio 400); vehicle dynamic control 600). A power glass sunroof 900) replaces the skyview roof with a conventional power-opening glass sunroof.  the elite package for the se 4,600) and sl 1,750) replaces the rear bench seat into two heated bucket seats with the center console extending the full length of the interior; the package includes everything from the driver preferred package, a power rear sunshade with front and rear controls, auto up/down rear windows, and an extra rear 12v power outlet.  se can be upgraded to sl levels of equipment. It's aerodynamic and modern and yet architecturally art deco, like some flash gordon fantasy of yesterday's tomorrow.  this is especially true at the front end, where a rounded-rectangle texture (anyone remember the '58 buick?) fills in the twin nostrils in nissan's signature grille, split by a dark chrome medallion at the center. The aerodynamically integrated headlight clusters wrap over the top and around at the sides.  big, round fender openings accented by flattened wheel lips pay homage to enormous alloy wheels: 18-inch, six-spoke units on the se, with 17-inch, seven-spoke wheels on the sl. The relatively open wheel design shows off the brake calipers nicely, so for 2005 they are painted black.  the maxima's rear roof slopes into the trunk lid with buttresses; and two large triangular taillight clusters, like the headlights, wrap around to the sides of the car.  maxima's bold design innovations include the skyview roof, a glass panel running lengthwise over the front and rear seats. interiorthe interior of the maxima is innovative and comfortable. The seats in the sl are firm yet pillowy, wide without a lot of side bolstering. In front of the driver are three small gauges set in their own pod, like those on a motorcycle.  we like the details of the maxima's interior, specifically the light colors and the proximity of the switches and controls to the driver. However, the labels for the climate and audio controls is too small to be easily read, and it seems like a lot of buttons for the audio system and trip computer. The display is hard to read in bright sunlight with polarized sunglasses. Still, we didn't care for the large, flat splash of trim on the center stack, neither the titanium-colored plastic in the se nor the faux wood on the sl. It seems like wasted space. Nissan says it found a lot of people rarely open their sunroofs. Satellite radio can be great companion on long trips, delivering cd-quality sound nearly everywhere. Finding stations is easy with rds (radio data system), which clearly identifies programming on the radio's display.  three cargo nets are provided in the trunk and work better than most for holding down a load of groceries. driving impressionthe nissan maxima se rides smoothly and quietly, even on bad pavement. Both models handled bumps well, a benefit of the maxima's independent multi-link rear suspension. The se feels more connected to the road than the sl.  cruising on the highway is effortless. The 3. 5-liter v6 develops 265 horsepower and pulls strongly in passing situations. Both the six-speed manual and the five-speed automatic transmissions are well-matched to the smoothly revving 3. 5-liter v6. The engine has such a broad power band that the maxima is happy being either a high-revving hard-charger or a boulevard loafer. The six-speed manual shifter feels tall and has a lot of extra movement when compared to that of the nissan 350z. Clutch pedal travel is also notably long. That means manual-shift devotees will be doing a lot of aerobics while they drive. Nissan expects fewer than 10 percent of maximas will be sold with the manual gearbox.  we drove the maxima quickly on twisty canyon roads around mount palomar in southern california. Its limits are very high, but it feels noticeably bigger and more ponderous than the lighter altima. The steering is accurate, though it seems light and slow. Body roll is minimal, but turn-in is slow and the maxima feels prone to understeer initially. Accelerating out of corners, there's no wheelspin but there is some torque steer, a slight tugging sensation at the steering wheel. summarythe nissan maxima has become more indulgently luxurious. 2003 nissan xterra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Supercharged performance and so much cool. introductionnissan xterra is cool. It's cool to have a mountain-bike rack inside the cargo bay. It's cool to be rugged. It's cool to be retro and a trendsetter at the same time. And it's especially cool to be supercharged.  there's even more cool for 2003. The naturally aspirated (non-supercharged) v6 is stronger this year. Electronic brake distribution (ebd) is now standard. Traction control, skid control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system are now available. Eye-catching new colors are available, including atomic orange and camouflage.  with its unusual blend of style and function, xterra has been a huge success ever since nissan launched this compact sport-utility in 2000. Xterra has prevailed beyond nissan's expectations and hopes. It's still cool.  . lineupnissan xterra comes in two trim levels: xe and se. Standard equipment includes a tubular roof rack with removable gear basket, air conditioning, a 100-watt audio system with a cd player, anti-lock brakes and a full-size spare tire.  xe v6 20,399) comes with a 3. 3-liter, single overhead-cam v6 that now produces 180 horsepower (10 more than last year) and 202 pounds-feet of torque. For 2003, xe v6 also comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, tubular step rails, and a driver's seat that adjusts for height and lumbar support. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the v6 xe. Also included are upgraded seats; fog lamps; cruise control; first aid kit; leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls; power windows, locks and mirrors; variable intermittent wipers; tilt steering wheel; remote keyless entry and, coolest of all, a 300-watt rockford fosgate eight-speaker audio system with subwoofer and in-dash 6-cd changer.  a supercharged v6 engine that produces 210 horsepower and 246 pound-feet of torque is available with se trim only. A new rugged leather package 999) for se models includes leather seats and suede-like fabric inserts for the inner doors. A pop-up sunroof with sunshade 349) is available on se models. New for 2003 is the dynamic control package 549), which includes traction and skid control functions, plus a tire-pressure monitoring system. Skull protection is cool.  . walkaroundnissan xterra boasts rugged, distinctive styling. It doesn't look like a girly girl suv, though that doesn't mean women won't find it appealing. Men and women find it appealing. Its front end received a major facelift last year (2002), including round headlights (in place of square square ones), a new front fascia that gives it a more muscular look, and a raised hood with a power bulge.  the rugged aura is carried through with a thick tubular aluminum roof rack terminating in a black airfoil. Step rails match the roof rack, and stout fender flares frame handsome alloy wheels. The beefy grille and front bumper house big radiator vents and recessed halogen fog lights. Vertical handles on the trailing edge of the rear doors add to xterra's functional appearance, though functionally they're not the best. The two-tiered roof and a tall, square back add to the rugged, utilitarian look. A bulge in the tailgate contains a first aid kit. Nissan says the pathfinder is similar, and nobody ever complained. The instrument cluster features a three-pod cockpit motif. Xe gets gray gauges while se's are bluish. A big new console is outfitted with map pocket, power ports and push-out cup holders. The glove box grew by 25 percent, and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning controls were revised.  the long-criticized, dash-mounted, pull-and-twist parking brake was replaced with a foot-operated pedal. This is a big improvement, though we'd prefer a proper hand-brake lever. The manual shift lever is on the tall size.  the front bucket seats are comfortable and supportive. They fit well and provide good lumbar support. A cd changer holds six cds, which can be selected with the six radio station buttons. Three big retro-looking rotary knobs with wings control the heater. Auxiliary dc outlets are provided front and rear, in addition to the cigarette lighter.  se models have cruise control and radio controls located on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, with wide spokes positioned at 3, 9, 5 and 7 o'clock. The whole padded center is the horn, the best and safest operation because of quick access. The horn is tinny but strong, a no-frills statement.  we took the xterra windsurfing, and were wishing for the accessory seat covers made of wetsuit material. Other nice available cabin details include the side window demisters and rear heat ducts, smart storage crannies, as many as 10 cargo hooks on floor and ceiling, and a strap on the tailgate to close it from the inside.  rear seating is not the most comfortable. There's not much side support. Rear passengers can slide their feet under the front seats, but it's a little tight, an inch less than in the smaller toyota rav4. There's lots of headroom, though. The roof is raised over the rear seats to allow them to be positioned higher than the front seats, providing a theater view through the windshield.  because the xterra is built on the frontier pickup truck platform, nissan engineers must have been challenged to squeeze everything in, while providing lots of good cargo space (65. 6 cubic feet with the seats folded down, 44. 5 cubic feet with the seats up).  the 50-50 rear seatbacks fold down fairly flat, but the seat bottoms must be removed. Nissan has also added metal ceiling tie-down clips in the cargo area.  . driving impressionnissan xterra feels tight, smooth, and refined, in a utilitarian sort of way. Thanks to high-tech sound insulation in places not normally insulated, the xterra is quiet at freeway speeds. And the luggage rack hisses in the wind.  xterra sways with gusts and leans in curves, not surprising given its height and boxy shape. That big vertical rear window provides excellent visibility, but it gathers dust and dirt like crazy; fortunately, a rear wiper/washer is now standard on all xterra models.  xterra is nimble at slower speeds, feeling lighter than its 4046 pounds. The steering is very nice. The suspension does a great job on washboard gravel roads. Power steering is by recirculating ball. The body rides on the backs of 10 individually tuned dual-rate rubber chassis mounts, so there's no harshness there at all. The xterra rides much better than the frontier pickup, while sharing the frontier's strong ladder-type frame.  the naturally aspirated, 180-horsepower 3. 3-liter v6 is challenged to smartly drag the 4wd xterra's body weight of 4046 pounds. Stand on it, and the v6 roa.

2006 nissan altima review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. High performance, high practicality. introductionthe nissan altima is a roomy, comfortable, practical mid-size sedan. It's designed to please fewer people, but to please those few more intensely.  in this respect the altima reminds us more of mazda's mid-size sedan, the mazda6. Both offer stand-out styling; both surrender some refinement for gains in handling response. In other ways, however, they are diametric opposites: the lean and wiry mazda is the smallest car in this class, powered by a choice of high-winding engines; while the muscular nissan tops the class in both horsepower and wheelbase and is one of the roomiest cars in the class.  the altima delivers stunning acceleration when ordered with its 250-horsepower v6, essentially the same engine used in the nissan 350z and maxima. Punch it in any gear and it takes off, with nimble handling and brakes to match its thrust. The high-performance altima se-r adds 10 more horsepower and even more sports appeal. Altima's interior was redesigned for 2005, which resulted in an improved cabin. Altima also received some mild styling enhancements and a slight boost to its v6 for 2005. Air conditioning and a stereo are not included, however. The base model is only available with a five-speed manual transmission.  the 2. 5 s 19,500) adds air conditioning, power mirrors, remote keyless entry with remote trunk lock, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, cruise control, a six-speaker audio system, seatback pockets and a lock for the split rear seat. The convenience package 1,680) features alloy wheels, eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, leather-wrapped steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, trip computer, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, speed-sensitive volume control, automatic headlights and a vehicle security system. The convenience plus package 2,500) adds a power glass sunroof with sunshade to the other goodies, while the premium convenience package 3,300) adds to the above a bose audio system that includes a six-disc in-dash cd changer. Special edition, premium, comfort, and trip packages will also be available.  the 2. 5 sl 23,450) is the luxury altima. The only convenience option is the sunroof 900). This is a very nice car, the top-of-the-line altima.  the 3. 5 se 23,500), on the other hand, is a performance model, equipped with the v6; five-speed manual transmission; 17-inch alloy wheels; wider, speed-rated tires; a performance-tuned suspension; fog lights; and dual chrome exhaust tips. The se is also available with the five-speed automatic 23,800). Cloth upholstery is standard. A leather package 3,000) includes leather upholstery, bose audio, sunroof, and heated front seats and mirrors. The sport package plus 2,600) includes the sunroof, spoiler, bose premium audio, and xenon headlights. The leather sport package 3,900) combines the leather package with the spoiler and xenon headlights.  the se-r 29,550) features a 260-horsepower version of the 3. 5-liter v6, performance-tuned front struts and rear shocks, stiffer front and rear springs, thicker front and rear stabilizer bars, speed-rated 225/45wr18 tires and 18-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels. Anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd) and brake assist are standard. Unique front and rear fascias and its own rear spoiler, compact fog lights, side-sill spoilers, and large dual exhaust finishers highlight the exterior. Inside, the se-r gets sport leather seats, dark chrome trim, and a three-pod center-mounted gauge package. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but the five-speed automatic is available as a no-cost option.  safety features include dual-stage frontal airbags. Optional: side-impact airbags designed to provide torso protection for driver and front passenger and roof-mounted curtain airbags designed to provide head protection for front and rear passengers in a side impact or rollover. We strongly rec. walkaroundthe nissan altima is a big car by mid-size standards, bigger than the current toyota camry and honda accord. Its wheels are pushed to the far corners, giving it a long wheelbase and wide track for stability at high speeds. The long wheelbase leaves plenty of room for passengers, and for large doors to let them in and out.  cast in the style of a european sedan, the altima looks more like something from volkswagen or audi than honda or toyota. Yet the altima also has more exterior design detail than the camry or accord, with creased mirrors, integrated foglamps and other subtle cues. Altima's sloping roofline is reminiscent of a coupe. Its high trunk lid is set off by bold round taillights, turn signals and backup lights set in a triangular-shaped cover.  nissan subtly restyled the altima for 2005 for a more aggressive look. The new hood looks more athletic, with a muscular bulge suggesting a powerful engine. A smoother front fascia and smoked headlamps add to the bold impression, and tooth-like ridges molded into the horizontal grille bars tighten altima's kinship with the more exotic maxima. Altima's grille is large by contemporary standards, but not the least bit awkward.  altima is assembled with a one-piece bodyside structure for more consistent build quality. Altima has gained on camry and accord in exterior build quality and nissan claims panel-fit accuracy within 1. 0 mm. interiorthe nissan altima feels spacious inside and that's no illusion. It ranks at or near the top of the class in interior roominess. There's more front legroom here than in all but the largest vehicles on the road. The front seats are quite comfortable and large enough for larger bodies. Changes included a new instrument panel, a new center stack and a new center console. Seat materials, trim finishes and the headliner were upgraded and new chrome accents were added. Overall it's a vast improvement over earlier models and closer to toyota and honda levels, but still not quite there. The cloth upholstery is okay and the material used on the dash is nice, but the lids on the front of the center console are flimsy.  the altima is a comfortable car, however, and driver visibility is excellent. The dashboard is set relatively low, with a binnacle directly in front of the driver containing speedometer, tachometer, and water temperature and fuel gauges. The instruments glow orange in the dark, offering less interference to night vision. The three-spoke steering wheel tilts and telescopes to help optimize driving position. The shifter on models with manual transmissions is somewhat long, with long throws.  the available navigation display is located at the top of the center stack and it works well. Audio controls are mounted high on the center stack for easy access. At the top are two rows of buttons, used to control audio, trip computer, and navigation functions, with a small joy stick in the center. Heating/air conditioning control knobs lie directly below and are easy to locate with minimal distraction.  air conditioning vents are flush-mounted on the dash. Seams for the passenger-side airbag are invisible, cleverly hidden in a large expanse of unembellished dashboard surface. The center console has cupholders large enough for one-liter bottles. A power port inside the center console storage area is useful for cell phones. There's an adjustable elbow rest. The parking brake is a proper handbrake, located front and center. The windows can be opened with the remote key fob (by holding down the unlock button), a nice feature on hot summer days.  the rear seats are supportive and comfortable, with good legroom and sufficient headroom. A 6-foot, 4-inch passenger can sit comfortably behind a 6-foot, 4-inch drive.

2011 nissan juke review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new all-wheel-drive sporty compact crossover. introductionnissan calls the juke a sport cross, which ties in with its claim that it's a crossover between a sports car and an suv. Its 1. 6-liter turbocharged intercooled direct-injection engine is being seen for the first time in the u. S., but it too has been used by nissan in europe and japan for some time now.  the name juke is meant to suggest flitting around town, or as a boxer might juke around the ring, and the vehicle does just that. It's got a short 96-inch wheelbase, and a stance and style that looks rather jukey. Its styling is aggressively quirky, as nissan likes to take chances. It's distinctive, and cool.  the 188 horsepower with 177 pound-feet of torque provides brisk acceleration. The cvt transmission with its manual shifting is quick and sharp, however we found the 6-speed manual transmission detracts from some good qualities in the car, including the quietness and steering. The fuel mileage with all-wheel drive is an epa-estimated 25 city and 30 highway, and we're surprised that it's not more, given the modern 1. 6-liter direct-injection engine.  the all-wheel-drive system divides the torque 50-50, with the capability to move all the torque between left and right wheels, to meet traction demands.  the suspension is fairly standard, macpherson struts in front and multi-link rear, and combined with the short wheelbase and relatively big 17-inch wheels and tires, the ride catches every undulation. Juke s comes with the cvt and front-wheel drive, and is available with all-wheel drive 20,460).  juke sv models add upgraded fabric upholstery, power moonroof and privacy glass, intelligent key with pushbutton ignition, leather-wrapped steering wheel, integrated control (i-con) system having sport, normal and eco modes for programming of engine, transmission and steering. Juke sv comes with a 6-speed manual transmission 20,260), cvt 20,760), or cvt and awd 22,260).  juke sl models add a navigation package with upgraded speakers and usb connectivity, leather upholstery with heated front seats, leather-wrapped shift knob, rearview monitor, and foglamps. Juke sl is available with 6-speed manual transmission 22,550), cvt 23,050), or cvt and awd 24,550).  safety equipment on all models includes six airbags, stability control with traction control, 4-wheel disc brakes with abs and ebd, and tire pressure monitor. Optional all-wheel drive enhances safety in slippery conditions. walkaroundthe juke is certainly eye-catching. Nissan isn't afraid to go out there with quirky styling, not even after the failure of the asymmetrical cube, too quirky for its own good.  the juke has features that shout originality. Hyper-aggressive edged fender flares outline big arches and suggest room for monster tires, making even the large 17-inch wheels look small. The conspicuously high ground clearance adds to that effect. It's 3 inches wider than a nissan versa five-door, and it shows.  the hood and nose of the juke are loaded with things that shout for attention, namely the big round headlights inspired by rally lights, and amber running lights with turn signals that seem slapped onto the tops of the fenders like barnacles. Nissan says integrated but we'd argue that definition. Add foglamps in the air dam and the nose is full of circles. Many people will find it cute. On the ferry from vancouver, b. The juke might turn out to be a chick car, if not a rock star.  the juke looks great in metallic charcoal brown, with gold specs in the paint catching the sun; we like that color best by far. There's a raked windshield, high beltline and broad shoulders.  the roof slopes down and the hips climb up, or at least they lend that illusion, thanks again to the arches and flares. There's a family resemblance to the infiniti fx. There's a radio antenna in the middle of the roof that would be cool if it were a shark fin like on the honda cr-z. Still, the juke comes across as original. interiorthe seats are comfortable in the standard quality fabric, or superb optional leather. The fabric looks best in dark charcoal, and the leather in a rich brown. There's good bolstering that does its best to keep the driver's body in place, but the suspension allows a lot of upper body sway, or head toss, as it used to be called in the older jeep cherokees.  the seating position is high, and that affords good forward visibility. There's tons of cargo space, 35. 9 cubic feet, when the 60/40 rear seat is folded flat, which it does with one touch. However, not surprisingly, there isn't much legroom in the rear seat, only 32. 1 inches. The juke is a 5-seater, but three people in the back seat will be squeezed in every direction but up, and maybe that too.  nissan says the center console was inspired by a motorcycle gas tank. It's not just a long box with levers and crannies on it, which might describe the current state of center consoles. It's a long shapely tube, hard plastic with glossy paint, for example a rich and deep candy apple red that looks terrific. It begins at the bottom of the wide center stack, where the shift lever rises out the top, flows down and back and narrows, with a long black e-brake lever on the left and two cupholders and a coin holder on the right, before ending with an open bin between the seatbacks.  the gauges behind the steering wheel are good: black faces, white lettering, red needles, brushed aluminum-like rings around the speedo and tach. The juke isn't the only car with this poor design. We wonder how it gets by.  the center stack is nice and big and wide, more like a square with rounded corners. All the buttons, knobs and dials allowed easy function. After we watched it and thought about it for a while, we realized it's useless. Also a waterway, which the navigation lady who lives in the center stack couldn't see. Power Locks✔ Power Windows✔ AM/FM✔ Air Conditioning✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Bluetooth

2005 nissan altima review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New interior improves this roomy and powerful sedan. introductionthe nissan altima is the sportiest of the mid-size sedans. Nissan has redesigned the interior, addressing the biggest caveat with this car. In addition to its new interior, the 2005 nissan altima gets some mild styling enhancements and a slight boost to its powerful v6, already one of the best v6 engines on the market. A new high-performance altima se-r adds even more sports appeal.  the nissan altima boasts a bigger interior than the toyota camry, honda accord and most other mid-size sedans. The new interior is nicer and more convenient than last year's interior.  when ordered with its 250-horsepower v6, the nissan altima is one of the hottest cars in its class. It delivers stunning acceleration. Punch it in any gear and it takes off, with nimble handling and brakes to match all the thrust. Two engines are available. The 3. 5 se and 3. 5 sl feature a powerful 3. 5-liter v6, essentially the same engine used in the nissan 350z and maxima.  the base 2. 5 model 17,200) comes standard with power windows, a green-tinted solar glass windshield, power steering, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, fold down center armrests front and rear, a 60/40 split folding rear seat and an in-glass antenna. Stereo and air conditioning are not part of the base package, however. The base model comes with a five-speed manual transmission; an automatic transmission is not available.  the 2. 5 s 19,050) adds air conditioning, power mirrors, remote keyless entry with remote trunk lock, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, cruise control, a six-speaker audio system, seatback pockets and a lock for the split rear seat. The convenience package 1,680) features alloy wheels, 8-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, leather-wrapped steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, trip computer, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, speed-sensitive volume control, automatic headlights and a vehicle security system. The convenience plus package 2,500) adds a power glass sunroof with sunshade to the other goodies, while the premium convenience package 3,300) ups the ante with a bose audio system that includes a six-disc in-dash cd changer.  the 2. 5 sl 23,400) is the luxury altima. The only convenience option is the sunroof 850). For those who want all the goodies without the big engine, this is the car.  the 3. 5 sl 26,900) has the v6 and comes standard with the five-speed automatic. A new model for 2005, this is a very nice car, loaded with luxury features, and represents the top of the line.  the 3. 5 se 23,100) is the performance model, equipped with the v6, five-speed manual, 17-inch alloy wheels, wider, speed-rated tires, a performance-tuned suspension, fog lights, and dual chrome exhaust tips. The se is available with the automatic 23,750). A leather package 3,000) includes the leather upholstery, bose audio system, sunroof, heated front seats, and heated mirrors. The sport package plus 2,600) includes the sunroof, spoiler, bose premium audio, and xenon headlights. The leather sport package 3,900) combines the leather package with the spoiler and xenon headlights.  the new se-r 29,200) benefits from the changes wrought on all 2005 altimas, but also gets a 260-horsepower version of the 3. 5-liter v6, performance-tuned front struts and rear shocks, stiffer front and rear springs, and thicker front and rear stabilizer bars. The se-r also comes with 225/45r18 w-speed rated tires and 18-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels. New front and rear fascias, compact fog lights, new rear spoiler and side-sill spoilers, and large dual exhaust finishers highlight the exterior; inside, the se-r gets sport leather seats, dark chrome trim, and a three-pod center-mounted gauge package.  safety features include dual-stage frontal airbags. Side-impact airbags for the front passengers are optional, however. Roof-mounted curtain airbags designed to provide head protection for front and rear passengers are also optional, but we recommend them as most side-impact fatalities are caused by head injuries. Also. walkaroundthe nissan altima is a big car by mid-size standards, bigger than the toyota camry and honda accord. Its wheels are pushed to the far corners of the car, giving it a long wheelbase and wide track for stability at high speeds. The long wheelbase leaves plenty of room for large doors and passengers as well.  styling revisions, though subtle, give the 2005 altima a more aggressive look. Cast more in the style of european sedans, the altima looks more like something from volkswagen or audi than honda or toyota. The hood has been redesigned, giving the 2005 altima a more athletic look, by suggesting it's packing a powerful engine. A new front fascia and smoked headlamps adds to the bold impression and a new grille looks more in keeping with the rest of the newest nissan lineup. Altima's grille is large by contemporary standards, but not the least bit awkward. Newly styled 16- and 17-inch wheels give the 2005 altima a sportier look.  its sloping roofline is reminiscent of a coupe. The high trunk lid is set off by bold round taillights, turn signals and backup lights set in a triangular-shaped cover.  the trunk has a large opening and low lift-over height. Offering 15. 6 cubic feet, the altima near the top of the mid-size class in trunk space. Flexibility is increased by the standard split-folding rear seat (with a lock on all but the base car). The trunk lid lifts on its own when popped with the remote key fob, and the gooseneck hinges that allow this action intrude minimally into the usable trunk space.  altima is assembled with a one-piece bodyside structure for more consistent build quality. Altima has gained on camry and accord in exterior build quality and nissan claims panel-fit accuracy within 1. 0 mm. The new interior is a vast improvement over that of last year's model.  interior improvements for the 2005 model year include a new instrument panel, a new center stack and a new center console, all much nicer than the previous model's. Seat materials, trim finishes, headliner and new chrome accents are an improvement over last year's materials.  the three-spoke steering wheel tilts and telescopes. The dashboard is set relatively low, with a three-gauge binnacle directly in front of the driver containing speedometer, tachometer, and water temperature and fuel gauges. The instruments glow orange in the dark, offering less interference to night vision.  the available navigation display is located at the top of the center stack. The windows can be opened with the remote key fob, a nice feature in hot summer months.  altima feels spacious inside and that's no illusion. Altima ranks near the top of the class in interior roominess. There's more front legroom here than in all but the largest vehicles on the road. The front seats are quite comfortable and large enough for larger bodies. Getting in and out of the altima is easy, thanks to wide doors and a slightly higher-than-average front seating position.  the same applies in back. The rear seats are supportive and comfortable, with good legroom and sufficient headroom. A 6-foot, 4-inch passenger can sit comfortably behind a 6-foot, 4-inch driver. Rear center passengers have a three-point seat belt with shoulder harness; when the center spot is empty, an armrest drops and presents cupholders. Getting in and out of the rear seats is easier in the altima than it is in many mid-size sedans. The long wheelbase and large doors make it less likely that a rear passenger will get dirty by dragging clothes across the fender well. driving impressionthe nissan altima is one.
